The shoguns of medieval Japan were fighters who usually did combat training since they were children. Shoguns used a variety of weapons, such as swords, spears, wakishis, bows, and arrows. They were also master archers and swordsmen. Samurais usually used the same weapons, just not as decorated as the shoguns. Shoguns would use something called the "three techniques": cutting, stabbing, and shooting.
